Making A Word Document Into a PDF

So, a common scenario is that you have a Word document, and you need it converted into a PDF. The advantage of this would be that the recipient of a PDF would see your exact formatting, and you can use an uncommon and font and not worry about not having it installed on the next computer. This is why a CV should be sent as a PDF and not a Word file. Another use would be to bring a document from one computer to another for printing.

There are many ways this could be accomplished. One of the easiest is to open or create the document in LibreOffice (which is the successor to OpenOffice). Both are free downloads, and a link is provided below.

Once in LibreOffice, then look under "File," and it is not under "Save as..." but rather under "Export as PDF." This will then popup a dialog box, and just hit ok as the default settings will be fine for most users. Hit "Export" and then just remember where you are saving the file.

You now have the PDF from the Word file ready for emailing or printing.
